We have bought a new cylinder, a new thermastat, washed the system through and bled radiators. We have hot water ("OH THANK GOD!!!!") but no heat.
So! we have a couple of plug-in heaters which I am carrying from room to room. We do have a fire as well, though what it has in ornament it lacks in throwing-out-heat ability, it being quite big room.
Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am wearing 2 jumpers, 2 pairs of socks and a scarf. The cold has woken up my arthritis. I envy hedgehogs their hibernation instinct.
Hope you are keeping warm!
That photo's almost monochrome! We're cosy here. Elder son fitted a small woodstove earlier this year, and it warms the room as well as cutting draught. Bliss!
ReplyDeleteFeel for you - my heatings not great & can't run it too long so know about the double jumper thing - lol!
ReplyDeleteTake care

Dragonstar,
ReplyDeleteOoooooo a woodstove! Yum! I'm envious. And I want to move in.

Poopsie Blue!
Yup! Double jumpers, double socks, and always leave your dressing gown so near to the bed that you don't have to quite get up to put it on :)
Brrrr! I don't envy you Helena. I wonder if Bob's jokes have warmed you up? lol
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope you get it sorted out soon. It sounds like a good excuse to retreat to bed with a pile of books, a hot water bottle and a cuddly friend! (Oh, the bliss of being old!)
ReplyDeleteIt was chilly yesterday...
ReplyDeletei love that frostyness. I live up north (its grim, you know) and we aint had any yet.
ReplyDeleteHugs xx
brrrr helena! i hope you stay warm, get your heat fixed and don't get sick from the cold!
ReplyDeletelove the snow, tho, huh?

Lynda,
I am torn between staying in bed for as long as possible these days, for the warmth, or getting up early to get as much daylight as I can! So far, I must admit, the bed is winning.... :)

Ms Creek,
Too late! I have what my mum would call "A cold in the tummy". Translated into Bear, this means I am an odd colour and am pooing for England.
Being cold builds chara-no, forget that, just start a fire and warm yourself asap!
ReplyDeletebrother.... here we are in Canada and it is positively sunny and balmy.... some fool must have sent our cold weather to you .....
ReplyDeleteI would suggest jumping jacks except for the tummy stuff... no, on second thought...definitely don't jump....
close off a few rooms and spent more time in the one with a fire... thank goodness you have electricity for a kettle full of water for tea.....
Great photo! I'm keeping warm but stopped up my kitchen sink. My husband got a bit upset but actually took it well considering we had to pay $145.00 to have it snaked out. We've never had to hire someone to do any of that kind of work in our 36 years of marriage! I was cleaning out the freezers of old food and trying not to let my husband see how much I was throwing out but that didn't work out too well! We went without a kitchen sink for two days as we weren't going to pay a weekend rate!
ReplyDeleteOh Helena,
ReplyDeleteI do hope someone can help you! We've been a week without heating but luckily it's working again now (although the plumber tried to convince me I wouldn't get through this winter with such an old heating system and I'd better invest in a new one too).
Take care!
Els
