The moon's baby
Took this photo last night from a little way up my road, about 6.15pm. My partner was on his way home, rang and said, "Look at the moon! It has a baby!"
The "baby" is Venus! Over towards the top right from it is Jupiter.
The view wasn't like this for very long. In fact, when I had started to take pictures, Venus appeared much closer to the moon, like it was tucked just in behind. In the time it took for me to put new batteries in the camera and make a quick call to my mum telling her to go and look, it had "moved" to this position. All my other pic's had camera shake or blur. I am so pleased that I got at least one!
WOW. I wish I had had a telescope!

You did well - wished I'd seen it.
That's a great photo Helena. I looked out last night but it was cloudy here. I wonder how much longer the 2 planets will be visible? It's amazing to see the planets and the moon like that.
I'm so glad you showed this. My son texted asking about it - he was looking at it out of his window. He lives about 15 miles away, but we had cloud!!! I believe Venus passed "behind" the Moon last night.
Oh, we have a similar view of the moon and planets. I didn't look last night because of clouds, but I will tonight.
Very good shot, Helena. Amazing that as far away from me as you are, you saw pretty much the same thing I saw last night.
Chewy and First Mate,
Things like this make you feel so small in comparison don't they?! :)

Dragonstar & Julie,
My mum couldn't see it either, becuase of cloud. I'm glad I got one decent shot of it. I was shivering too much to hold the camera straight on the others. LOL!

P Blue,
I hadn't known anything about it till my partner rang and told me to look. He had heard aomething about it on the radio. I don't know how long it will be visible- try again over the next few nights!

Oh Wow! That is fantastic.
What a great picture! And, what is wrong with me, because I thought it looked like a sad frowny face. :(
I will have to try to see if I can see it tonight, but it's so very cold here!
Stay warm!
