A wee update

Thanks for the messages of support :)

Mum is doing ok but the bruise on her face has got worse- she now has a black eye and the other eye is black all round the nose. The lump on her forehead is shrinking though. She still can't remember how she did this, but whilst in the kitchen, I noticed that when she opened a cupboard door it lined up exactly with the marks and lumps- so maybe she opened it then tripped into it? Could be...

I fell asleep this afternoon till early evening and when I woke up I discovered that she had cooked herself an omelette and remembered to have her pills :) this is a good sign. She has been so down as to be almost inert.

Her neighbour slipped on the ice the other day and has broken her wrist. She had an operation on it today but is staying at her mum's in Rochester. This may mean I need to stay longer as she is one who was keeping half an eye on mum!

More snow today, but it didn't settle much. It looks like tiny white marbles on the grass verges.

We filmed some starlings, swooping in to roost, the other day. I hope I can get it online for you to see.

It seems ages since I did any crafting! I am taking part in a mouse swap this month so I am starting to think about how to make a wee mousie. Being restricted, away from my craft supplies, might actually be helpful as I have to be more inventive. I'll take photo's as I go along, of course!

Bye for now,

We are glad there are signs of improvement. Mu mom is still in the hospital. They have her over the pneumonia but is so very week and has a yeast infection in her mouth from all the antibiotics so can not eat easily. They did tell us that she had the tiniest heart attack but it caused no damage. Hopefully this crazy winter weather will settle and i can make the tpir out to see her.

My beloved friend Helena! How often you have been in my thoughts these days. You are such a perfect caregiver to your mother. Believe me I know that. I was caregiver to my mother after she became sick with lung cancer and she was here with us and required round the clock care.
All those who gave advice in the last post are so right each in their own way...yes, do must take care, and time for yourself. You will be so rewarded for the love and care you give now...
Please know how much I care and send you energy to get through the gray times...it will get better...it already is...
All our love from the cozy cottage

I'm so glad your mother is improving, though it will take quite some time before your stress-level rduces! It's a hard time of year, and the current weather makes it even more difficult.
Maybe you can relax a little bit an make some time for yourself. I do hope so.
I think of you often.I hope this year sees an upturn for you.

Hopefully it is the change in meds for your mum to be getting better as that would mean things might get better for a long period. How do people do it? One day at a time. If you think too far ahead it becomes overwhelming. The only thing you may have to think about futurely wise is whether you need to bring your mum to your home. You can't stay there forever and much as we don't like to move in with our kids, sometimes the adjustment just has to be made. I hope a clear indication of what you need to do appears.

Oh I was so proud of your Mum after reading about her making herself some lunch and remembering her pills!
You may be right about that cupboard door. Ouch! :(
I have been holding you in my thoughts so much Helena. Working on a little mousie will be nice therapy for you. The kitties can tell you if you are doing it right!
lots of gentle hugs and cake and tea,
Lorianna
