Oh, happy bee

Took this in my mum's garden a fortnight ago. I use a digital camera nowadays. I abandoned my trusty 20 yr old Pentax P30 because I'm short sighted now, but not equally so in each eye. This makes manual focus difficult.

So, my Luvbug offered to buy me a camera for Christmas last year. At first, I was a bit reticent about it being a digital. But it is so convenient. Not only for sharing on emails and blogs, but also the way you can take 15 shots of one thing, just to get one good one. You don't have to worry about wasting film in the process. So this is what I often do.

In this case though, the bee was there, and then he was gone. This was a one-off.

It being a digital, I feel I can't take much credit for this picture, but it still makes me happy, as it was so lucky to catch such a lovely scene!

Those flowers look like purple bugs with wings.

Beautiful picture, I still get nostalgic for my old Pentax at times, dont know why as digital is so much easier and convenient, also so many programmes that give special effects but somehow its not quite the same :)

It's French Lavender. She started off with a tiny pot, and now she has loads of it spread everywhere! Hers stands upright, whereas mine droops. It isn't fair!

Audrey,
Yes, I must get round to trying out the special effects. I tend to stick to what I know. I know one setting that I know works, and I've stuck to it so far. LOL!

Nice picture! I'm scared of bees and insects in general but seeing it in a photo and therefore at a safe distance, its a lovely scene :)

I never use a camera before ...it was difficult for me...and yes the digital one is so easy and handy...my son gave me one when I retired...this bee reminds me the story of Mother bee...Mère Abeille, this famous story I could never find again...
one day we were in Stokholm(can't rememeber how to write it)we met a woman...a bee had fallen into the bucket of water, she gently took it, and with her finger wiped the tiny wings, spoke to her...the bee moved her wings, and flew away...
magic...I can smell your lavender from here...
