Blackbird

I have names for some of the blackbirds that visit regularly.
Smudge has a white mark on his chest.
Groucho has white eyebrows.
This one is Snowy-
the first photo shows why! These last two aren't quite in focus but never mind...I love to see the birds in our garden.
I love to lie awake early and hear the robin outside my window, always just a little earlier than the blackbirds...

"Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life you've been waiting for this moment to arrive."
Such lovely pictures! Sometimes, I call my cat Cricket, "blackbird" and I'll sing that song to her (badly).
I love that song even though it always, always makes me cry.
I just ordered some stamps from 100 Proof Press and I am working out some card ideas in my head.
What are you up to these days? How is Fluffy?
Sending you and your kitties loving thoughts,
Lorianna

Am impressed you can get so close to Blackbird Snowy that we can see the snowflakes on his back, my garden birds are far to skittish for me to photograph.

I too, love listening to the Dawn chorus. I've more Robins than Blackbirds.

Love
Blue

PS - Yes, how is Fluffy?

Yes, the robin is always the first awake and the last to sleep - but sometimes not by much!
Lovely photos.

Lorianna,

I don't know that song at all and you're not the first to quote it to me! I think I should look it!

I haven't heard of 100 Proof Press, I may have to investigate that too!

I've been sleeping and curling up in a ball, through 13 days (so far) of menstrual cramps. Yummy!

Spoke to mum today (cats live at her place) and Fluff is ok. Scooter was out in the garden, belly up, as it was a rare warm sunny day and he was making the most of it. I might get to visit them this weekend :)

Blue,

More robins that blackbirds? WOW! That must be lovely.

The blackbirds come up quite close when I'm gardening because they know that if I dig up a juicy worm I'll throw it to them! I took these pictures while weeding the front garden flower bed. He was hanging around behind me. But I didn't get THIS close- it has a zoom!

Fluff is ok, but mum is squeamish about checking the lump, so I'll have to wait till I can visit and then check it myself. She doesn't think it looks bigger, and Fluff is behaving normally- sleeping, trying to punch Scooter as he walks past her armchair, and talking loudly, even in her sleep.

:)

Dragonstar,

Since the pillock next door brutally murdered his silver birch (bitter? me?) the robin now sits on the laural under my window for his morning song. It's lovely! It also has the addedd satisfaction that it is also nearest his bedroom window too so I hope he gets woken up HAHAHAHAHA.

Like I said, I'm not bitter.

Cherrypie,

Yes he looks particularly cheeky in that one!

the mighty beluga,

Hullo!

I'd love to get the robin to eat from my hand. He got within a couple of feet of me this year. But just not quite... he often pops down and appears from nowhere when I do my special whistle for him though :)
